August 2006

The injection system for the Australian Synchrotron Project has for several months injected a beam at 3 GeV into the Storage ring at 1Hz. The beam has been fully characterised to fulfill the performance specifications including an energy of 3 GeV, a current in excess of 0.5 mA and 5 mA in single and multibunch modes, respectively, and a horisontal emittance of 30 nm.

The plot shows the magnet ramp during 1 second to 3 GeV (in red) and the current in the booster synchrotron (in blue).
