Danfysik has delivered the Special magnets for the CNAO Hadron Therapy Facility in Italy
Please contact Danfysik for details

Septum magnets, Kicker magnets, Bumpers and Choppers with power supplies for the Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica (CNAO) Facility in Pavia, Italy.
Project start 2006. Project completion 2008.
The Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica (National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy, CNAO) in Pavia will be the first Italian centre for deep hadron therapy. It will be based on a synchrotron capable to accelerate carbon ions up to 400 MeV/u kinetic energy and protons up to 250 MeV, energies which are necessary to treat deep seated tumours.
As Danfysik has significant expertise in design and manufacture of the highly critical “high-speed” components used for directing and/or steering the beam into or within the accelerator, Danfysik was selected as the vendor for all the special magnets (septum, kicker, bumper and chopper magnets) needed for the accelerator system. The custom designed power supplies for the elements made part of the delivery as well. The contract included the electrostatic injection and extraction septa, which are highly advanced and complex designs, using state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing techniques. The two vacuum vessels for the septa are complemented by two individual high voltage supplies generating up to 100 kV drive voltage. The electrode/septum gap, position and tilt can be operated by remote control.
