Our Mission
Our mission is to conduct business by developing, designing, manufacturing and integrating advanced components and systems of high quality for the research, healthcare and industrial markets by exploiting our competencies in accelerator technology.
We will perform our business in the best interest of our customers, our employees, and our owners.
History
Danfysik A/S was founded in 1964 by Ejnar Jespersen with the purpose of developing, designing, and manufacturing equipment for ion accelerators.
Starting from components like magnet power supplies and accelerator magnets, the company's competencies expanded towards building complete accelerator systems, and in 1967 the first isotope separator was delivered. In the 1970's more isotope separators followed and a few early ion implanters to some of the semiconductor manufacturers.
The power electronics technology made a large step forward in 1987 when the Ultrastab Current Transducer and the System 8000 Magnet Power Supply concept was launched. During the 1980's many large magnet spectrometers for particle physics experiments and high current implanters for tribology applications and research work were manufactured.
In 1990 Danfysik moved its headquarters to new buildings in Møllehaven, Jyllinge. During the 1990's the first permanent magnet based undulators and wigglers for synchrotron light sources were installed, and superconducting magnets were made for the CERN LHC project.
The company made a great leap forward in accelerator technology in 1997-2000 when a 500 MeV turnkey booster synchrotron was manufactured and put into operation at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, and in 2000-2002 a 2.9 GeV booster synchrotron was installed as part of the Canadian Light Source accelerator complex.
In 2003 the contract for the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the 3.0 GeV turnkey Injector System for the Australian Synchrotron Project was awarded to Danfysik.
Danfysik and Siemens Medical Solutions (Med) entered into a cooperation contract for particle therapy solutions in 2004. The contract covers the exclusive delivery to Siemens of accelerator systems for medical applications. The Particle Therapy business was sold to Siemens A/S in 2008.
